Imagine $30,000 in pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters.
At St. Pius X Church in Loudonville, NY, they don’t have to imagine it; they’ve seen it!
Every year during Lent (the 40-day period leading up to Easter), the parish’s Orphanage Committee conducts the Change for Change campaign to raise money for St. Francis Xavier Haitian Orphanage. Hundreds of coin containers go out into the community to be filled with people’s pocket change over the next few weeks.
The weekend before Easter, the containers come back, and the change is counted and converted to a check for the Orphanage.
The Change for Change campaign regularly raises $30,000 or more!
Small change makes a big difference in Haiti, where the average family lives on $2 a day.
